There was also the fact that she'd meant what she said about being there to make sure nobody did or said anything that would get all of them arrested. Being on the city council gave her that much clout with the city watch should they come looking.

His tone goes firm. "We're people fighting for a better galaxy. We want a senate, not an empire. The First Order is a danger to us all, and I don't mind saying so in public."

"And would you say so to a Republic council meeting? Ask why nothing's being done to curtail the growth of the First Order?" The Republic Council had been a good idea at the beginning, and had worked, but like its predecessor had also fallen into complacency and even had what amounted to a gag order on council members questioning their lack of action in regards to what was undoubtedly a growing threat.

She doubted it would, if anything the group would simply be ejected from the meeting hall and sent on their way as long as they weren't making threats.
"They need to see that the people aren't as blind, or unconcerned as they seem to think."

Certainly she could tell them, time and time again, that the people were afraid, and angry, and knew that the First Order was a threat and not just to the outlying colonies, but if none of the public arrived to say so themselves? She eventually started to sound like a paranoid old woman.

She had some power, being on the council, but not much, and certainly not much by herself, but she was always curious to see what kind of power people thought council members had.

Her head tilted a little, debating briefly before she asked: "How many do you have altogether that you can trust not to do something stupid that would get you all expelled from the council room or arrested?"

That was the hope, and she'd always said that as long as they had hope, and something to back it up with, they'd do well for themselves.

She shook her head, "Most who fought at my side before are either gone or simply too tired to do it again, and I don't blame them for that." They'd been twice her age when she'd started and she could certainly understand the desire to simply try and enjoy what time they had left.
